Treadle Hammer

The first thing to know about a Treadle Hammer is that it is not a replacement for a Power Hammer. Actually, it is a replacement for the striker.

The treadle hammer shown here has a 75 pound head.

Most of the tooling shown is made from mild steel and has been Super Quenched. This tooling is intended for use in hot steel, unlike a lot of the tooling used in the fly press which is hardened steel since it is often used on cold steel.
