Thiers, France is the cutlery center of France (much like Sheffield is for England). There is a museum in this city which has a major collection showing several centuries of knife production.

The Spring 2008 issue of "The Anvil's Ring" had a feature article about some of the knife makers in this region of France.

Thiers is about 250 miles south of Paris.
