Tailgating

"Tailgating" is the name for the flea-market held at Hammer-Ins. The term comes from the habit of blacksmiths parking their pickup trucks and displaying the items for sale on the tailgate.

You will see everything from used tools, steel, new tools, etc.

At large extablished Hammer-Ins, you may see as many as 30-40 vendors selling all manor of "stuff" of interest to blacksmiths.

  • Given the recent jump in gas prices, tailgaters are fewer and are coming in smaller trucks with fewer (and lighter) items to sell.
