Pure Iron

Pure Iron is a forgeable iron, very soft, contains only a trace of Carbon and other alloying elements. This material is considered as a replacement for Wrought Iron.

Originally, a company in Boston Massachusetts tried to market it to the blacksmith community, but was not successful. Blackmiths were not willing to pay the higher costs.

R&B Wagner Inc. in Milwaukee, WI is now trying to market this material. The iron is imported from Europe and seems to be available only in a limited number of square and rectangular bar, sized in millimeters.

See this web site: http://www.wagnercompanies.com/pure_iron.aspx for chemical analysis and detailed information about the iron.
