Pipe Jigs

One of the simplest bending jigs to make is a pipe jig: simply weld a short piece of pipe to a short piece of angle iron; add a stop; and you are all set.

The moral of the story is to keep an eye out for different size pieces of pipe. I probably have at least a dozen of these types of jigs: pipe welded to a piece of angle iron. I think my largest one is about 8" in diameter.

  • Assortment of small "pipe jigs":

For the smallest jig in the upper left, instead of using a piece of pipe, I used a piece of 3/4" solid.

  • "Pipe Jig" in the vise, bending a hook:

  • A pair of larger "pipe jigs":

The pipe jig on the left has a stop. The one on the right does not. Generally on the larger pipe jigs, I will use a pair of vice grips to hold the hot stock to the edge of the pipe. Also, for both of these jigs, since I did not have any large angle iron handy, I took 2 pieces of a smaller angle iron and welded them back to back for the base.
