MRI - Magnetic Resonance Imaging

If you find that you need to have a MRI, be sure to tell the doctor and the MRI technician that you are a blacksmith/metalsmith, even if you are a hobbiest (They should always ask you if you work with metal).

They need to check for any tiny metal particles, especially in your eyes (this requires a skull x-ray and adds a large chunk of time required to complete these additional procedures). The MRI process could cause those particles to become "excited" and move around, thereby tearing any nearby tissue. Even if you are sure you are okay, you must have this done, it protects your eyesight and the doctors involved.
