Hand Vises

Shown below are two hand vises. These vises were made in varying sizes but tended to be fairly small so as to fit in a person's hand and comfortably hold objects too small, and sometimes too hot, to be worked on any other way. The hand vise is an extremely useful addition to a smith's tool box for forging, or filing small objects.

Physically these little vises appear very similar to their much larger cousin the blacksmith's leg vise.
