Hammer-In
A "Hammer-In" is a blacksmith conference, usually one or two days long, often sponsored by a local blacksmith club. Generally there will be a featured demonstrator.
Although there is usually a registration fee. That fee rarely covers the full cost of putting on the conference. The additional money needed to put on the "Hammer-In" comes from the
Iron-In-The-Hat raffel and the auction.
If you attend a "Hammer-In" it is considered common courtesy to bring one or more items to put in the raffel and in the auction. They should be items of use or interest to a blacksmith. The auction usually has hand forged ironwork. So please be generours with buying raffel tickets and bidding in the auction: this is what makes the Hammer-In possible. Not to mention that you will probably win some neat "stuff".
