ZIPLOCK Freezer Bags
ZIP LOCK BAGS, available at the supermarket. I keep a number of different size bags in my shop: snack, 1 quart, half gallon and gallon sizes. Except for the snack size, I buy the freezer bags, as they are made from a slightly thicker plastic. These bags are perfect for storing all kinds of things and they are self-sealing/easy to open and close. I use the 1 gallon size to store my rag-buffing wheels, along with its polishing compound; 1 wheel and 1 compound per bag. ( You are not supposed to use different compounds on the same wheel. ) The snack size is perfect for when I am taking something apart and need to keep the different screws/nuts/small parts from getting separated or lost. The bags are transparent, so it is easy to see what is inside, and they have a place where you can label the contents. Another benefit, is that they are easy to store, you can easily stuff them into nooks and crannies. And the price is right, not all that expensive.
Now Ziploc has come out with some really BIG heavy duty Ziploc bags: Large-3gallon; X-large-10 gallon; and XX-Large 15 gallon. All these different size Ziploc bags allow you to store items in the shop and not worry about them getting dirty. I keep various things that I would rather not accumulate a coating of dust, grime, grinding abrasive dust, etc in these bags: welding goggles, spare safety glasses, magnifying glass on a stand, etc. Now I can keep some of the large items, such as the welding helmet and the sandbag that I use for repousse in a sealed bag.
