Cast Iron Fireback for Civil War Period Traveling Forge

This cast iron fireback for a traveling forge was acquired from Museum and Collector Specialties and was either cast from an original or from a mold crafted according to the specifications by Captain Albert Mordecai reprinted in Field Artillery Traveling Forge Book No. 61, which are reprints of drawings that was used by manufacturers to construct traveling forges in the mid-19th century.
