Bronze Brush

Here is something that I picked up from Steve Joslyn, one of the featured demonstrators at MASA’s Metalsmith Conference, September 2007.

We all know about using a brass brush to add a yellow/brassy color to forged steel, but did you know that they also make a BRONZE brush?? I didn’t. The bronze brush gives you a deeper warmer color; a little less yellowy than the brass brush does. Steve said that it has to go on at a higher heat and you have to rub a little harder to deposit the bronze. The effect is more subtle than you get from a brass brush.

The brush is available from MSC Industrial Supply Co. http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRHM MSC # 53502233 $10.05
